Now that many airlines across the globe are equipped with ADS-B Out technology, new avionics upgrades will allow airlines to take advantage of ADS-B In applications. This next evolution of ADS-B technology includes cockpit retrofit solutions providing airline pilots the same traffic information as air traffic controllers. Besides the enhanced situational awareness, ADS-B In allows airlines to increase operational efficiencies such as improved block time predictability and increased runway throughput.

This webinar will focus on the specific safety and operational efficiency benefits from adopting ADS-B In applications. Captain Dave Surridge, Senior Manager Airspace Optimization for American Airlines will be joined by FAA representatives Doug Arbuckle, Chief Scientist and International Lead and Andrew Shutt, Project Lead for Avionics Agreements, as well as Chuck Manberg, Technical Fellow and Cam Morast, program lead for ADS-B programs from ACSS, an L3Harris and Thales Company.

They will review the recent certification flight testing completed for the American Airlines, FAA and ACSS ADS-B In Retrofit Spacing (AIRS) evaluation program, what they hope to learn from this instrumental evaluation program, and their expectations from industry adoption of the ADS-B In technology.
