As a former Boeing 737 Captain and CEO at Aer Lingus, British Airways and International Airlines Group, few can match the depth and breadth of Willie Walsh’s industry experience.
At the beginning of April, Walsh added a new stripe to his career, becoming the eighth Director General and CEO at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He takes the helm at a critical juncture for the global air transport industry and for IATA’s almost 300 airline members as they work through the recovery phase of the pandemic crisis.
Early on, Walsh has made clear some of his priorities: helping airline members reduce their costs and return to profitability; working with governments to facilitate the safe and hassle-free return of international travel; and ensuring that those in the supply chain seeking to recoup their losses do not take financial advantage of airlines.
Walsh will discuss these and other industry issues in a fireside-chat webinar with ATW's Editor-in-Chief Karen Walker.
